The challenge

A large enterprise platform needed to serve 10+ companies and 50+ divisions without fragmenting governance, permissions, content, or release workflows. The architecture also needed to connect Salesforce data and operate reliably on Acquia Cloud.

Architecture approach

  • Defined Drupal 11 multisite boundaries and reusable module responsibilities.
  • Designed RBAC boundaries for users operating across multiple organizations and roles.
  • Established Salesforce synchronization and REST API integration patterns.
  • Led the PHP 8.3 and Drupal 11 modernization strategy.
  • Standardized deployment automation, observability, and performance practices on Acquia Cloud.

Outcome

The resulting platform established a scalable foundation for dozens of divisions while preserving clear ownership, secure access, and consistent delivery standards. Performance tuning and modernization strengthened response times and long-term maintainability.
